According to rankings published by Figyelő and HVG in Hungary , the University of Szeged is the best university out of the capital; the institution is surpassed only by Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest) in the whole country. SZTE is one of the best universities, not only in institutional lists, but also in subject rankings.
As for study fields the University of Szeged was ranked among the best on recently published rankings in Hungary, said Prof. Dr. Tamás Martinek, Vice Rector for Public Relations: SZTE is in the top 3 by subject rankings.
The ranking of Figyelő – publishing its very first list of higher educational institutions this year –took indicators, such as number of applicants (overall and on the first place), average application results of admitted students, The educational quality of the institutions was judged by the number of tutors with academic achievements, the acknowledgement of the institution among foreign students and the gross average monthly income of graduates. SZTE was proven to be the second best on this list.
The University of Szeged was remarkably featured on the ranking of HVG as well: SZTE was only outperformed by ELTE, as a consequence, the Szegedien university is the best university out of the capital. This ranking was based on the academic excellence of students and tutors, the number of applicants, average application results of admitted students, language proficiency and the academic achievements of professors. SZTE was ranked the second best as for faculty member’s excellence and the fifth best as for students’ excellence. On the list of the best faculties and study fields, the Faculty of Arts of SZTE was marked as the 4th, the Faculty of Science and Informatics was mentioned as the 12th and the Faculty of Medicine became the 15th best among the university faculties in Hungary.
The University of Szeged is also outstanding on international rankings: on the list of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) recording the best Eastern European and Middle Asian universities, SZTE was ranked on the 27th place, becoming the very first among the Hungarian institutions.
